Thing 9

It is interesting going to the differenct search tools. They will searching the internet easier. Also, it is cool to see what everyone else has been reading on the internet when I browse through Topix.nex. I was glad to be reintroduce to Atomic Learning. Normally, I just plunder my way through a program. Going through the blog pages and reviewing the news read, will enhance my lesson planning.

Of course, I got my THINGS out of order trying to spend every free moment that I have.

Thing 10

My summer has been hectic with the teaching of summer school, moving into a new house and trying to organize activites on the weekend so that it would feel like I had a summer break. Due to this, I was not able to complete my assignments. However, I plan to attempt competion regardless to the credits. I enjoyed the cartoons. They will make pleasant additions to my flipcharts and powerpoint persentation.

Thing 8

Thing 8
Since I usually log-on in the school district home page, I will need to make an adjustment to to maintain my Google Reader page. I knew nothing about RSS, but have notice this technique while observing my son use his computer. I must admit that it was easy after I got over my fear of messing up.

In my personal life, it will help me keep current with my many interest. It will also keep me abreast of upcoming activities and new thoughts and ideas, especially those concerning family reunions.

In the libraries, if a student were working on a particular project or assignment, by using RSS it will speed up the search process and give the students the most recent articles written or researched.

As for my new Google Reader, our family is planning another family reunion. Using and sharing what we learn will foster new ideas. Looking forward to the research!

Thing 6 and 7

Thing 7

I really had fun with this activity. I tried making a puzzle from the lower ninth ward photo but the image was faded, so I just created a postcard. The image that I choose with the Industrial Canal Bridge in the background is one that is etched into my brain since childhood. I had the privilege of seeing barges and ocean liners travel up and down the Mississippi River and through the Industrial Canal throughout my youth. Unfortunately, I also had the misfortune of seeing the devastation after the storm. The numbers in the photo is the address of my parent's home, which should be rebuilt by December 2008.

Thing 6
I was so intrigue with this Thing 6, that I also created a magazine cover of my 16 month old granddaughter and e-mailed it to my daughter. As the only grandchild, she has me wrapped around her little fingers. I can't wait to make more magazine covers as she grows!

Thing 5 - Moving Slow

It was very exciting to view the photos on the Flickr site. Such a large accumulation of pictures can enhance slide shows and flip charts, making them more interesting. I am concerned about the number of photographs that are not protected and would prefer that the users use the privacy settings when posting personal photographs.

Thing 3 Again
Well, I did forget a step, my avatar. When I finally plan my design, it took me 15 minutes to figure out how to post her on my blog. I need to take better notes as I am reading the process. I love the turtle!
Thing 4
I have now tried to register my blog page. I pray that I have completed all of the requirements need to get it registered. I am also ready to learned new ideas. I biggest problem is setting up the time, to complete every activity. I am going to make myself work on the "23 Things" at least 2 hours a weeks. I CAN DO THIS!!!!
Thing 3
After listening to the history of blogging, I now understand how powerful a tool my blog page can become as another learning tool for my students and myself. I just need to remember to establish my community, make sure that I listen to their comments, and cultivate a spirit of openness. I must also remember to be consistent in maintaining the page, have a clear vision of how it will be used and define the content of the entries on my blog. Creating the blog page was fun and easy! I can wait to learn how to make it more personal.
Thing 2
I have reviewed "Thing 2" at least four times. This process of getting the correct information onto the blog page has really allowed me to put the seven 1/2 habits into practice. I knew where I wanted to go with this blog page from the moment I started. I am willing the accept the responsibility of learning how to use it and maintain the page. I feel that it will be great tool for my students as another means of communication. As far as viewing this as a challenge, I have found it to be a little out of my norm, but I believe in myself. Personally, I don't like losing and refuse to let this system beat me. Due to the fact, that I did not understand the process, I create my own tool box consisting of a note pad, pens, pencil and color pencils. This allows me to take notes as I read or listen to the programs. I plan to definitely use this to my advantage to increase communication and while reviewing the lessons, a phone call interrupted my learning which lead me to discussing the process I am going through, which means I have already begun the teaching and playing section of a life-long learner.

Thing 1

After going through the first four lessons, I realize that I have to keep notes. I am the type of learner that needs to see it as well as write it. On tomorrow, I will be starting over, even though I managed to create my blog page. If anyone else is having this problem, let me know how you handle the situation.

Hello and Welcome

Hello and Welcome,
I am VERY excited about the upcoming year. Communication is very important in your success within my classroom. I realize that not all students fell comfortable discussing their performance or posing questions during the normal class period. Therefore, I invited to you visit enter your thoughts, positive comments and concerns. I will try to address them at least twice a week, which is my personal goal.
